This market will take into account the standard NCAA Top 25 but will include the top ranked team in all three major rankings during the regular season (AP Top 25, USA Today Coaches’ Poll, CFP rankings).
If a team ranked #1 at any point during the regular season in any of the three rankings mentioned above is defeated prior to Bowl season and the CFP, it will count towards this market. Will resolve at the conclusion of the regular season in December.
@jks Yes. Conference championships, if I understand the CFP weekly rankings, capture the outcome of conference championships as well as school records for the other two polls. So even if there is another disparity between either two polls and the CFP rankings going forward, any team sitting in the #1 position that is defeated will satisfy the count for this market.
@jks The original answer here said “3 or more,” but considering the “other” option available, it felt redundant, so I changed it to exactly 3.
We have one (1) defeat to count towards this with Alabama’s win over Georgia.
With the split decision of Alabama holding #1 in the AP Poll and Texas holding #1 in the Coaches’ Poll, there is the potential for two more over the next two weeks.
Upcoming weekend (Week 6, CFB)
Alabama plays at Vanderbilt
Texas has a bye
The following week (Week 7)
Alabama hosts South Carolina
Texas and Oklahoma have their annual slobberknocker
Upset alert (but is it really?) - Alabama leads Georgia 21-0 in the 1st quarter. This will count towards the resolution of the market to NO for 0 if Georgia falls to Alabama tonight.
Texas is safe for another week with their win over Mississippi State. If Georgia loses, it’s a safe bet that Texas will be undisputed #1 for both polls.
Weeks 3 and 4: Georgia (#1 Coaches) did not play this week after a 1-pt win against Kentucky on the road. I reported an error that Georgia’s game against Alabama was this past weekend. It clearly was not.
Texas (#1 AP) defeated UL Monroe decisively 51-3.
In the upcoming week, Texas hosts checks notes Mississippi State. Alrighty then.
Georgia has Alabama in Tuscaloosa. A tall order.
Both current #1s meet in Austin, TX, on October 19. TBD if either team will still be ranked #1 in either poll by then.
Week 1 - Georgia Bulldogs were the majority vote #1 in both USA Today Coaches poll and AP Top 25.
Their decisive win over Clemson 34-3 sets them up to be the consensus #1 for Week 2 when they host the mighty Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, who dropped a heartbreaker to the Middle Tennessee Blue Meanies this week.
