I'm creating this market as a proxy for how prevalent the flu is in America and how much of a concern it is. Currently, the CDC recommends the influenza vaccine for most folks over the age of 6 months (source), which is clearly >50% of Americans.

The market will resolve based on the recommendations put out by the CDC for the 2050-2051 flu season. If flu is not seasonal as it is considered today, I will consider the guidelines released nearest to October 1st, 2050 for the purposes of resolution

Resolution Criteria:

  • Quickly resolves YES if the most recent influenza vaccine information from the CDC for the 2050 flu season clearly recommends most Americans get the flu shot (e.g. as it does now)

  • Quickly resolves NO if the most recent influenza vaccine information from the CDC for the 2050 flu season clearly does not actively recommend (with language such as "should") that the majority of Americans get the flu shot (e.g. it does not actively recommend for anyone to get the flu shot, or it only recommends those 65 years and older to get the flu shot)

  • If neither of the resolutions are obvious, I shall vallantly slog through the data and will report back what I found. I will give the market participants 7 days to disagree with any of my calculations, after which, I will resolve it based on my updated understanding of the situation. I will resolve it YES if I find that the CDC is recommending for >50% of Americans to get the flu shot, and will otherwise resolve NO.
