YES

Congress enacted a continuing resolution on September 30th that funds the government for the first seven weeks of FY 2024. That resolution ends on November 17 and unless a new resolution is passed, the government will shut down.

Will rep Mike Johnson be able to lead the House of Representatives and work with the Democrats to pass a new bill to fund the government?

Edit 1: This will resolve to Yes if a new continuing resolution or a longer term bill is passed by the November 17th deadline.

Does he technically have to work with the Democrats to get a thing passed? How does this resolve if the Republicans all vote in favor of some spending package that funds the government and all the Democrats vote against?

predicted NO

@JoshuaB That's a fair question. A bill could pass the house without working with the Democrats, but that bill would never pass the Senate or get signed without compromise with Democrats. For this, question, I wanted to resolve this based on whether a new continuing resolution or a long term agreement are passed

@JosephOSullivan passed by the house, or signed into law, by Nov 17?

Will this market resolve to yes if a new continuing resolution is passed? Or only if there is a longer term agreement?

predicted NO

@WilliamCox Good question. I was thinking about resolving this to Yes if a new continuing resolution is passed. I'm interested in whether or not he will be able to compromise to avoid a shutdown. I think it will be interesting to see if he firmly stands behind the Republican proposals for the spending bill or if he is able to compromise with Democrats to keep the government open.
