This has always been a very important topic to me personally due to a decision I regret in the past. Obviously there is a line, but I'm curios as to where that line is. Comments and thoughts would be so greatly appreciated! Resolves to Yes if the closing % is >= 50%, no otherwise.

I will managram to people who write helpful and thoughtful comments, but this is not really a bounty.

"This has been an important topic to me ever since a decison I made in the past. I have lingering doubt about whether I made the moral, ethical, or correct decision. I would appreciate thoughtful comments on this question. I will give @KevinLobLaw Mana and lots of it in addition to resolving it the way he said."

also, you misspelled "curious".

Getting someone mental help isn't really a thing. Sorta like the adage, you can lead a horse to water but can't make them drink. If someone is in a mental health crisis, fine, they can be seen at an ER and be stabilized. But, if the person does not want to commit to their own health, and is telling you, I don't want the help, it's none of your business. People have a right to die. People have a right to their mental illness. Their right to swing a fist ends where my nose begins, but someone's happiness is not my business. Fuck 'em.

Assuming they will otherwise hurt themselves or others, yes. Keeping humans alive comes first.

Respecting someone’s choices and right to choose freely is respecting them as a full moral agent. But that line can be crossed if they are a danger to themselves or others.

You can take a horse to the water but you can't force it to drink. If your friend doesn't want professional help, even if you somehow force them to take it, they will not be able to benefit for it because they will not listen to professional advice.
