Resolution criteria

This market will resolve to "Yes" if, by December 31, 2025, Roronoa Zoro permanently blackens any of his swords in the "One Piece" manga or anime. A sword is considered permanently blackened if it transforms into a Black Blade, as defined within the series. Temporary blackening through Haki infusion does not count. The primary source for resolution will be the official "One Piece" manga chapters and anime episodes released by the specified date.

Background

In the "One Piece" universe, Black Blades are rare and signify a swordsman's exceptional mastery. Notable examples include Dracule Mihawk's Yoru and Shimotsuki Ryuma's Shusui. Zoro has previously wielded Shusui, a Black Blade, but returned it to Wano Country in exchange for Enma. The process of permanently blackening a blade involves continuous imbuement with Haki and achieving a deep bond between the swordsman and the sword. (cbr.com)

Considerations

Zoro currently wields three swords: Wado Ichimonji, Enma, and Sandai Kitetsu. Each has the potential to become a Black Blade. Enma, in particular, is noted for its unique ability to draw out the wielder's Haki, suggesting a higher likelihood of transformation. (beebom.com) The timeline for such a development is uncertain, and while the series is progressing towards its climax, the exact moment when Zoro might achieve this feat remains speculative.
