Pickleball has been the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. for the last 5 years with 36.5 M players as of 2023 (Tammaro, 2023). Additionally, according to NPR News reporter, Shannon Mullen, “the International Pickleball Federation has 70 member nations. Most joined in the last three years.” This means the sport only needs players in 5 more countries to be eligible for the Olympics. After this, the sport’s IF will need to campaign with the International Olympic Committee which typically takes about 7 years. This means that Pickleball could be an official Olympic sport no later than 2030 (Paddletrek).
