Is sensor fusion not clearly dominant already? Everyone is using it except Tesla, who’s self-driving cars are way less safe than Waymos

@JaundicedBaboon Yeah, but if I'm not mistaken there are more Teslas than all other self-driving-targeting cars put together. (From US companies.)

My take: digital cameras are not nearly as good as human eyes, and AI isn't as good as the human brain especially for spatial reasoning. So if self-driving works, it's going to need as much data as it can get from lots of different sensors to bridge the gap.
