This market resolves NO, and I give M$500 to Jim Hays because I didn't think this through.

NO

The market description below the line is for sale. Prices start at M$5 per character. Each time a change is purchased, prices increase by M$5 per character.

(For example, you could pay M$15 to change the word "NO" to "YES". If someone else wants to change it back to "NO", they'd have to pay M$30.)

Any resulting description must be grammatical, semantically meaningful, and non-self-contradictory.

Changes to the close date cost M$5 per hour of change, and increase price at the same rate.

The market title is non-binding and not for sale, and I'll edit it to try to keep it as accurate as possible.

This market resolves NO.

To incentivize edits, I'll refund the cost of the final edit before close, and pay the trader submitting that change a M$500 bounty.

Clarification: If one edit changes both the description and close time, the description change happens first.

Clarification 2: No edits to the description may be made after the market closes.

This was a fun market, so I made a group for similar "Self-editing" markets and came up with one of my own:

@IsaacKing Thanks for being a good sport! In retrospect, maybe I should have asked you to split the trader bonuses with me or something smaller, so that you wouldn’t be disincentivized from playing around with variations on this format in the future

sold Ṁ37 of YES

@JimHays I already took the risk on my code golfing markets, something like this was bound to happen eventually. I appreciate you only charging such a small fee for the lesson!

I was shooting for more than a token amount, but small enough that it wouldn’t seem totally unreasonable

I'd like to make an update. The description changes to the section of my message below in italics, then the close date changes to now. By my calculations, that's a 331 character/69 hour change, for a total of 400. At M$5 per, that comes to $2,000 mana, which I've sent in a manalink on Discord.

bought Ṁ100 of NO

Note that the italics are only to indicate which portion is changing, but the resolution itself is not being changed to be in italics. In case there is ambiguity, I'm not intending to delete the line-break between "_____________________________________________________" and "This market"

@JimHays Only a 330 character change by the way, the period stayed the same.

predicted NO

@IsaacKing Thanks for still honoring the change even though I paid the wrong amount. I miscalculated by adding 3 for NO->YES to the 328 new characters I added at the end of the original version, but I see now that you're right

bought Ṁ90 of YES

By the way, just a warning that last minute attempts to purchase a change may not work if I'm not online at the time.

How are you measuring number of characters? Levenshtein distance?

Does the title affect the resolution at all?

nvm, I see that at the end of the description
