Wisła Kraków is a Polish football team that dominated Polish football in 2000s, but got into serious financial trouble in 2010s which resulted in the team's performance drastically declining. In 2021/22 season Wisła got relegated from Ekstraklasa, the top tier of Polish football pyramid. In season 2022/23 Wisła came 4th, but lost in the play-off semifinal.
Currently Wisła is 5th, assuming that second and third team will win their overdue games(both have one overdue match) Wisła will be 4 points behind the second team with 15 games to play.
Wisła will begin their spring campaign on February 10th, being led by a new coach, Albert Rude, who is considered to be a very risky choice, as he is seen as rather inexperienced. He replaced Radosław Sobolewski, a club legend, that resigned in December, the common perception was that quality of Wisła's players is better than it's results, and that Sobolewski is not getting the most of them. After his resignation Mariusz Jop(until that point the coach of the reserves, that compete in the fifth tier) led Wisła to 3 victories in 3 remaining autumn games.
In preparation for the spring campaign Wisła played 4 friendlies: a 0-0 draw with 15th team of Iranian league, a 2-0 win over 7th team of Kazakh league, a 2-1 win over 6th team of Norway's second tier, and 2-2 draw with 7th team of Bulgarian league.
The regular season will end on May 26th, teams from spots 3-6 will play in play-offs(a one-legged knock-outs).
