This market resolves to Yes if Metrolink (Southern California Regional Rail Authority), including any of its trains, staff, board members, or the spirit of the Holiday Express itself, stays at least one night at a Holiday Inn Express at any point during calendar year 2027.
A "stay" requires credible evidence such as a press release, an expense report, a social media post, or a Metrolink locomotive photographed in a Holiday Inn Express parking lot. Bonus points (but no extra resolution weight) if the train is spotted at the free breakfast bar making waffles.
If Metrolink stays at a Hampton Inn, a Motel 6, or simply remains in its regular rail yard like a normal train, this market resolves to No. Standard hotel stays by passengers riding Metrolink to a Holiday Inn Express do not count unless the train checks in too.
Background
Metrolink announced that the Holiday Express would take a break for the 2026 season. Where exactly it is taking that break has never been disclosed. Industry observers have speculated that after four seasons of carolers and Santa visits, the train may simply need a quiet room, a decent pillow, and a continental breakfast. This market seeks to answer the question no one at Metrolink has been asked.
Resolution is at the creator's sole discretion, which will be exercised responsibly. The creator is not a transit expert, but did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
