Resolution criteria

This market resolves to Yes if Metrolink (Southern California Regional Rail Authority) operates at least one scheduled "Holiday Express" passenger service (or an officially designated equivalent holiday-themed excursion train operated directly by Metrolink, such as "Holiday Toy Express") at any point during calendar year 2027.

If Metrolink does not run a Holiday Express train in 2027, cancels all scheduled runs, or announces that the service will not take place in 2027, this market resolves to No.

The primary source of truth will be announcements, schedules, or press releases published on the official Metrolink website (metrolinktrains.com). Standard regularly scheduled trains operating on normal holiday schedules (e.g., Sunday/holiday timetables) do not count toward a "Yes" resolution unless specifically branded and ticketed as the Holiday Express (or official equivalent holiday event excursion).

Background

Metrolink's "Holiday Express" has historically been a seasonal, ticketed excursion train in Southern California featuring holiday decorations, carolers, and visits from Santa Claus. The service operated 75- to 90-minute nonstop round-trip excursions originating from various stations across its network during weekends in late November and December in 2019, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Metrolink announced that the Holiday Express would take a break for the 2026 holiday season, raising questions regarding whether the agency will bring back the special event train for 2027.
