I have been intending to get a Switch 2 to replace a currently functional, but ailing Switch. I am willing to go to some efforts to obtain one, to a point (no ridiculous launch day camping, for example). I will also not buy any scalped consoles.
Resolves YES if I am able to obtain a Switch 2 before EOY. This includes outcomes where someone else buys one and gives it to me, or if a household member buys one as a “family console” for all members. So I do not need to be directly involved in the purchase and it does not need to be exclusively mine, but it should be mostly so (eg being given free access to someone else’s Switch 2 at their house would not count). Resolves NO otherwise.
Money should not be an issue, this is primarily a matter of supply and my effort.

So said local retailer was Best Buy, who just opened online orders on the 11th. And apparently that “restock” was for the online orders. I had arrived at opening and obviously they were all gone. The employees said they get 1-2 cancellations per day if I show up early, but I’m not going to go to this particular Best Buy at opening every day.
I don’t have a particular game plan from here.
One of my local retailers had some in stock yesterday morning, but I missed them due to a meeting. There is a further retailer that still has one in stock as of writing, but I’m not sure if I want to make the drive, since local retailer should be restocking on the 12th.
Are these expected to be wildly underproduced? Otherwise I don't understand why this would be so low
