Will a new robot with abilities we have never seen before be released by the end of the year? There are many robots already out there such as the robot vacuums, robot companions (such as Emo, made by livingAI) and the Miko educational robot. But will there be a new robotic device that has new useful functions that better what we already have?

❗To resolve yes - the robot must cost £10,000 and be available for personal purchase. ❗️

❗To resolve no - The robot costs less than £10,000 and/or is not available for personal purchase. ❗

  • Update 2025-11-04 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): “Novelty” (in the field of robotics) would count. Any robot that people find useful would count, regardless of whether it's novel or not, as long as it meets the price (£10,000+) and availability (personal purchase) requirements. It would also need to be something that is new to our eyes regarding function

Degree of novelty really throws me off here. Does a Roomba that can use soap count? How about a countertop device that can make cocktails from ingredients placed in predetermined locations or vessels? What's a robot?

@AlexanderTheGreater Hi and thanks for the question. Anything that people find useful, whether novel or not, would count. What you have mentioned would count I guess, although, I doubt something in the field of robotics costing £10,000+ would be released unless it is something really good and would catch the public's eye for sales. I tried to give a hint at the price. Your question has been really helpful for me and others. Thanks
