Background The Liberal Party and National Party of Australia have a long-standing coalition agreement at the federal level, forming the main conservative political alliance in Australian politics. While mergers have occurred at state levels (Queensland in 2008 and Northern Territory in 1974), a national merger has never materialized despite occasional discussions. The Nationals maintain a distinct identity focused on rural and agrarian interests, which differs from the Liberals' broader urban focus.
Resolution Criteria This market will resolve YES if:

Only additional state-level mergers occur, unless said additional state mergers results in a federal merger, in which case the market will resolve as YES.
