Departs means no longer CEO or top leader. Death means they're not the leader. Company breakup means they're not CEO of it any longer. Renamed are irrelevant and don't change the company id. Merges as long as most of the prior company is incorporated don't count as losing CEOship. Gov't breakup only counts if the person is no longer CEO of either the part of the company whuch retains the name, or the largest part by employee count or revenue at point of breakup.

Announcements don't count they have to be really gone. Chairman of board isn't the same as CEO they have to be acting as the CEO in control.
