For the purpose of this question I define "major" and "violent" as a protest with at least about 500 people and there have to be clashes with the police (or other law enforcement like national guard) or counter-protestors and some destruction of property like store fronts, public statues, or similar.
If some reports say "400 protestors" and others "500 protestors", it will still count as long as it's legit sources and numbers are in the right ballpark.
Destruction of "unofficial" statues like the "grab'em by the pussy" statue that was put up by an artist recently won't count. Non-political destruction, that's unfortunately common place in Portland, like smashing of bus stop glass won't count either, unless we have clear evidence that it was done by protestors or people who hijacked a protest to be assholes or make the protestors look bad.
Since this is somewhat subjective, I won't participate myself.
Nvm. Posted on wrong market and don't know how to delete
Someone (who is local) told me they saw businesses already starting to board up ground floor windows yesterday.

@snazzlePop yep, that was a major inspiration for me setting up the market https://www.reddit.com/r/Portland/s/TWT8bcvBa5
It's also interesting to note that pre-2020 we used to have regular clashes between Antifa and conservative groups like Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer who came into town to protest/cause problems. There was one incident were they supposedly drove around downtown on the backs of pickup trucks and pepper-sprayed random pedestrians. There also were text messages revealed on which the Proud Boy leader coordinated with the police for the Proud Boys to set up a sniper nest on top of a roof to protect their people from counter-protestors. So no matter who wins we are IMO sitting on top a cinder box here in Portland.
