A surprising number of guys win their first Juryo tournament, starting from J11 or lower. If Asahifuji is as good as people think, he should have a real chance of doing it. Examples include Fujiryoga and Kusano (Yoshinofuji) who are both near the top of Makuuchi today, and did this on their first trip through Juryo recently.
