Japan's Sumo Association strictly forbids women from entering the sumo ring. However, it's customary for many Prime Ministers in Japan to deliver a trophy to the winning wrestler at some point in their tenure, if not a few times. Most recently, Prime Minister Ishiba delivered a trophy in January 2025 (and even Donald Trump did during his first presidency).

Takaichi was away on an international meeting during the final days of the November 2025 tournament, and therefore was not present, let alone presented the trophy.

Will she deliver a trophy to the winner of any tournament in 2026?

RESOLVES YES if Takaichi:

Delivers a trophy (can be Emperor's Cup or Prime Minister's Cup) to the champion or delivers a special prize to any of the special prize winners while she is in the ring during the day 15 award ceremonies.

RESOLVES NO if Takaichi:

Delivers no trophy or prize.

Delivers a trophy or prize outside of the ring.

Delivers a trophy or prize in the ring after some finishing rituals (not only the yumitori-shiki) have been completed (and therefore the ring is no longer sacred).

This market is about the spirit of women violating the sanctity of the sumo ring. Therefore, any and all ambiguities will be resolved in the direction toward which I feel the Sumo Association is making an exception or accommodation to the longstanding rule of sumo, that women cannot enter the ring.

i.e. if they build a wooden bridge which extends from the edge of the ring into the center upon which she walks and deliver the trophy to a wrestler I would resolve this YES.

If she is hoisted by wires and strung along floating above the clay I would also resolve YES.

If they allow her to deliver the trophy while up the steps, but while standing just outside the rice straw bales, this is NO.
