My understanding is this was originally supposed to be on the same course as last year, but there has been drama. I really don't know much more at this point.

@Eliza It seems the UCI informed Pozzato four weeks ago that they were backing out of the agreement. Then the Italian federation issued a statement saying it was not involved in making the decision but: "It is true, however, that the Italian Cycling Federation, having taken note of the UCI's decision, promptly took action to ensure that the organization of the event was not destined elsewhere." And now the race is being organised by Massimo Panighel, so one would imagine the federation recommended him to the UCI.
