It is now being reported that Sam Altman is in talks with the board to return:

In the video attached to that tweet, reporter Ed Ludlow says
We sat there all day Sunday saying "OK, well Sam's definitely coming back and the board's going to go". That wasn't the case at all. The board was digging in, and there was very little communication at all.
By 1 Feb 2024, will the latest reliable reporting be that the current story of Sam being in serious negotiations with the OpenAI board to return is accurate?
Since "reliable reporting" is somewhat subjective, I will not bet in this market.
