NO

He's been playing exceptionally well!

Resolves YES if Rozman gets a GM norm out of the tournament, and NO if he does not.

Norms are high-level performance benchmarks in tournaments that are part of the requirements to achieve the GM title. Each norm typically requires the player to perform at a GM level over a series of games against other titled players.

If there is a dispute, I will resolve based on FIDE certification of the norm, but in the vast majority of cases I will resolve this market as soon as it is clear one way or another.

I mean, I would probably wait until after the tournament ends to resolve, in case there was a miscalculation and 6/9 is enough for a norm somehow? Or if a player is eliminated and the scores are adjusted? Not that I'm complaining, I'm a heavy NO bettor.

I'll get mods to re-resolve if that's the case, but every source I've seen agrees that he needed at least a draw here to get the norm.

I guess you're right there's very low likelihood outcomes around a player getting eliminated, but that seems unlikely enough to be worth just resolving now.

Nope, if Levy wins tomorrow he gets a 2575 performance rating, he needs 2600+

If he tied today, and won tomorrow, he would get 2617

i thought there was 2 games left and he needed a 1.5/2 there. unless a game just finished in the last hour or smth. im not following this very closely

@Bayesian There were 2 games today and he lost the last one.

Round 8: Suarez Uriel Adrian vs Rozman Levy - Closed A - Chess.com.

Levy has a slight edge and a huge time advantage in a complicated middlegame.

bought Ṁ250 NO

As I understand it, Levy has 2 games remaining against 2nd and 3rd place, and needs to draw 1, win 1 for the norm:

2nd and 3rd place right now are IM Julio Suarez Gomez (2477) and FM Dani Tabuenca Mendataurigoitia (2355). Stiff competition but definitely doable! Next game at 11 AM EDT in 1 hour.

Looks pretty drawish to me, but that's not a bad outcome for Levy playing as black.

+2 for Levy right now!

blunder!

I could definitely be a gm.

I think Levy will be kicking himself in the recap video that he couldn't figure out how to break through, but a draw is still okay for him.
