Weird ordering of tags on the Nebula story … making me doubt. Sam+Brian, Adam+Toby, Michelle+Ben actually seems kinda reasonable, esp if you think Adam+Michelle is too intense. Also, Sam has been paired with everyone, but Brian was the longest ago, so this would be the most fresh-feeling …

It's clearly an All Star game. We are clearly meant to assume it's Tag from the location and the fact that it's the participants are a multiple of three.

But.

Team Tag wouldn't work with the same rules, because you surely don't want 4 people chasing as a gaggle.

Clearly they could change the rules to have two groups chasing separately somehow, and it still be Tag.

But there's a lot of possibility space here!

Maybe just confirmation bias but I really think my theory is true, based on both where they’re standing and interpersonal dynamics (Sam and Toby are the chill logic team, Adam and Michelle are the anxious competitive team, and Ben and Brian are the quirky vibes team)
