This market resolves YES if, before January 1, 2028, an officially declared candidate for president of the United States participates in a publicly released interview conducted substantially by an artificial intelligence system rather than a human interviewer.
It resolves NO if no qualifying interview occurs by December 31, 2027.
Resolution criteria
A qualifying interview must meet all of the following conditions:
Presidential candidate: The interviewee must have publicly declared a genuine candidacy for the 2028 U.S. presidential election at the time of the interview. Republican, Democratic, independent, and third-party candidates qualify. Winning a nomination or qualifying for a ballot is not required.
AI interviewer: An AI system must generate and deliver substantive interview questions autonomously, rather than simply reading questions written or selected by a human interviewer.
Interactive exchange: The AI must demonstrate the ability to respond to the candidate's answers by generating relevant follow-up questions or changing the direction of the conversation.
Minimum duration: The interview must contain at least 15 minutes of substantive interaction between the candidate and the AI, including at least five distinct AI-generated questions.
Public availability: A recording or live broadcast of the interview must be made publicly accessible through television, radio, a podcast, YouTube, a streaming service, or another public platform.
Verifiable AI role: Credible evidence must establish that the interviewer was genuinely an AI system generating questions during the exchange, rather than a human operator or a prerecorded script.
What counts
A presidential candidate interviewed by a conversational AI system.
An interview conducted by an AI-generated avatar, voice assistant, or other interactive AI interface.
A podcast or video interview in which an AI, rather than a human host, conducts the substantive questioning.
A hybrid event involving humans, provided the AI independently conducts a qualifying 15-minute interview segment.
What does not count
An ordinary human interview in which the questions were researched or drafted using AI.
An AI voice reading predetermined human-written questions.
An AI-generated parody, simulation, or deepfake of a presidential candidate.
A candidate interacting with a chatbot in a campaign advertisement without meeting the interview requirements.
A human interviewer using AI-generated questions without meaningful autonomous AI participation.
An interview conducted before the individual publicly declares a genuine 2028 presidential candidacy.
A demonstration of an AI interview system that is announced but never publicly released.
Resolution details
The deadline is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on December 31, 2027.
The market resolves YES once a qualifying interview has occurred and sufficient evidence is available to verify that the resolution criteria were satisfied.
Acceptable evidence includes a publicly accessible recording accompanied by reliable documentation of the AI system's role, such as technical disclosures, organizer statements, or credible independent reporting.
An interview conducted before the deadline qualifies even if verification occurs afterward. An interview conducted before the deadline but first made public afterward does not qualify.
If no qualifying interview occurs by the deadline, the market resolves NO.
Background
Artificial intelligence is increasingly capable of conducting natural-language conversations, generating questions, interpreting responses, and adapting its behavior during extended exchanges.
Meanwhile, presidential candidates are increasingly willing to communicate through unconventional media, including podcasts, streaming platforms, and long-form interviews.
Donald Trump's appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience during the 2024 presidential campaign illustrated the growing importance of nontraditional media in electoral politics.
Could the next development be a presidential candidate agreeing to an interview conducted not by a journalist, podcaster, or television host, but by an AI?
This market tests whether that cultural boundary will be crossed before the end of 2027.
The AI need not be embodied in a robot or animated avatar. An ordinary voice interface or chatbot qualifies, provided it independently conducts an actual interview satisfying the requirements above.
