The inflation rate for December won't be published until Jan 12, so I won't resolve until then. For the 12 months ending in November the rate was 7.1% according to the US Labor Department.

I'm not sure what version of the CPI you're using for this question. The CPI is typically quoted without seasonal adjustment, and without seasonal adjustment, the change in the CPI-U for the 12-month period ending Dec 2021 was 7.0%.
