@Domer I assumed the question is about the Atlantic only since the description references it, but we are just now around the peak of the season with 5 hurricanes so far in the Atlantic and we could see a sixth within a week with Invest97L if it comes hurricane Nigel. So, yes it looks very unlikely to me also.

You are referring to number of hurricanes (Saffir-Simpson?) in the tropical Atlantic basin only, or worldwide?
@NicoDelon Yes Atlantic season only. This was based on the NC weather service forecast and I assume they wouldn’t be counting Typhoons in the pacific. So only Atlantic hurricanes.
NOAA has 70% confidence but we are already ahead of schedule with Cindy, so I am betting YES.
