Bruh they are extending support to other browsers. Why would they do that if it's not going to even be on bing.

bought Ṁ100 of NO

Let’s be honest, if they nerf the new Bing there really isn’t any bing at all. And also it still sucks, just in a different more entertaining way now.

@BTE
This has already happened.
Mar 18 2023: Microsoft switches balanced to a worse model. (https://www.reddit.com/r/bing/comments/11v3opi/warning_bing_chat_balanced_is_now_gpt3_not_gpt4/)
Since you bought NO in your own market I assume you have an excuse as for why this doesn't count.

predicted NO

@ShadowyZephyr What does the model have to do with the features of Bing? We didn’t even know it was GPT-4 when I wrote this question. This question was inspired by an episode of Hard Fork podcast where Kevin Roose predicted Bing would kill the erratic chatbot feature all together because it was being weird and claiming he was in love with it. Anyway, why do you read this to be about the model rather than the feature when I never mentioned the model?

predicted NO

@ShadowyZephyr I can’t see any reason to use Bing other than the chatbot. The search results are absolute garbage.

@BTE The model is what powers the chatbot. Less powerful model means the chatbot will be more stupid (Indeed, balanced is worse than it used to be). Is that not the definition of a nerf? Please clarify resolution criteria before I bet.

predicted NO

@ShadowyZephyr Maybe I misused Nerf. I thought I was saying take it away. I literally used the words the host used and didn’t think too much of it until just now. Can you not choose between different versions one of which is balanced? The others creative and precise.

predicted NO

@ShadowyZephyr I thought I was asking if this chatbot would end up where all of Microsoft’s past chatbots did, back on the shelf after getting too weird.

predicted NO

@ShadowyZephyr I think you are correct about the model being important to this question. I am looking through the links here and the only claim I see being made speculation using screenshots comparing outputs. I also see many counter claims and it definitely seems to matter which mode is selected. I am going to find the original confirmation that Bing was released with GPT-4 and also an official confirmation that it was downgraded to GPT-3 or 3.5.

predicted NO

@BTE Bing Creative is GPT-4, the other 2 modes are 3.5. Also, if it determines that your question can be answered with a lesser model, it will switch to 3.5 even for creative. So some people have prompt tricks to get it to respond with GPT-4 every time.

@Mira 1. Incorrect. Precise is definitely GPT-4 based. However, both Precise and Creative are powered by Microsoft’s fine tuned version “GPT-4 Prometheus,” which performs significantly worse than the regular gpt-4 in tasks that don’t involve internet searches.

  1. Microsoft’s official statement on the change was this: “Testing faster responses: We are testing an optimization on “Balanced” mode that significantly improves performance—resulting in shorter but much faster responses.  Responses in the Precise & Creative tones remain unchanged.  ” However, the community consensus from people who used the tool is that it got much worse after the change, and I confirm that bing balanced is still much worse than the other 2 modes.

predicted NO

@ShadowyZephyr I think you're right. There's some tests that GPT-4 succeeds almost all the time that GPT-3.5 fails on, and Precise and Creative passed it. So Precise at least can be GPT-4.

@BTE I would reword the question to "Will Bing Chat still be publicly available on Bing Search at the end of 2023?", if that's what you're asking. Nobody has a huge position on YES yet(the bot isn't trading based on interpretation), so hopefully it would be preferable than leaving it as-is.

@Mira That’s pretty similar to existing markets, but I guess it works.

predicted NO

@Mira Great tip. Thank you!

@BTE Sorry, the meanings of YES and NO have swapped with that phrasing... maybe you just want to NA and make a new market with the clearer phrasing.

bought Ṁ70 of YES

@MiraI was wondering why you were not going to sell NO after pushing that change…lol . You’re right, my bad for not pointing it out

predicted NO

@Mira Okay my bad y’all. I failed to think before copy/pasting your suggestion! Doh!

predicted NO

@Mira I think your suggestion was right just should have worded it to be asking about the negative outcome. I could switch it since it has only been a minute.

predicted NO

@Mira @ShadowyZephyr my bad, I would totally tip you both if I could. I very much appreciate the help making the question more clear. Last time I create a question while walking my dogs and listening to a podcast. One too many simultaneous activity lol!!

sold Ṁ107 of YES

@BTE I made profit selling yes, so I'm fine. Mira if you want mana from me I can give you back the 37 mana I made

predicted NO

I have almost entirely switched to Edge from Chrome over the last month.

bought Ṁ10 of YES

It's arguable this has already happened: https://blogs.bing.com/search/february-2023/The-new-Bing-Edge-%E2%80%93-Updates-to-Chat
