We're doing an offsite in Mexico City in June: https://manifold.markets/Austin/how-many-people-will-stay-at-mexifo And likely one in Washington DC in September: https://manifold.markets/noumena/will-i-be-part-of-a-group-renting-t But in between, we'd like to have another offsite sometime in July or August. Where and when should this be? Some ideal qualities in an offsite location: - Comfortably house + work 10+ people - Not too expensive: <1.5k/night for 10ish nights - Close to cool stuff to do - Flights are not difficult or expensive - Good weather Oh, and ideally we'd be close to EAs/awesome startup people. (Or be able to convince a lot of them to join us!)

@Austin Can we resolve this market? All my mana's tied up and I have two mana left to my name.

I think @IngaWei 's vote was to call it Franifold

Whoa, funny how I only just saw this market! At Mexifold I was telling James and Stephen that I think Colorado hiking season (~May-Oct) is way underrated compared to ski season.

@JamesGrugett I still love the idea of Alaska, even if we don't go this July. Banff, Jasper, and Glacier are also beautiful!

Kinda boring but Austin and Sinclair live here, plus there's https://futureforum.foundation/ which we could maybe all get into

@SG 👀 For other people betting it should be known I also lived in Istanbul for 7 years and would be able to make the trip seamless.

From an FX perspective, this is the best time to go. https://manifold.markets/Duncan/will-the-turkish-lira-trade-at-high

According to @DavidGlidden's calculator, this is the cheapest city for us to all fly to. I think we should save it for the Fall / Winter though

@JamesGrugett yeah I would avoid Vegas in summer for sure

I like the idea of Alaska (never been!) and going north for the summer. Though I don't see great housing options for Anchorage; things seem to be some combination of more expensive, less large, and less "nice" haha. This seems to be the best? https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/30687017?check_in=2022-08-01&check_out=2022-08-08&guests=1&adults=12&s=67&unique_share_id=820f5e70-87dd-40a0-8f2e-01c327ace4ef

It's summer time so we should go somewhere northern! Alaska is really interesting and Anchorage is the largest city. We can stay downtown, near other young people. It's clean, there's cool bars, lots of hiking and water sports on the lakes/ocean. July/August is the time of year with the best weather and tourism in Anchorage (https://weatherspark.com/y/252/Average-Weather-in-Anchorage-Alaska-United-States-Year-Round) The days also have ~18 hours of sunlight, which I argue will make us more productive, haha!

Though, apparently the weather is kinda bad in July (hot, monsoon season?)
answered
Seoul, Korea
@Austin It will be pretty hot but shouldn't be too bad. If we were to go in the summer the other option would be to go to Jeju Island instead of Seoul.
Some more boutique US options: Raleigh, NC, Charleston, SC, Boston, MA, Atlanta, GA

Haha would be pretty down actually! The houses themselves actually look really cheap, here's one I like: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/35895424?check_in=2022-07-20&check_out=2022-08-03&guests=1&adults=12&s=67&unique_share_id=865933e5-9735-43fb-a235-d8f1d60a1822

Boulder a similar option with good tech culture (from what I’ve heard)

Benefits: Ian and Gavriel are already in the Boulder/Denver area! Drawbacks: wait to go in winter, so we can go skiing on weekends
Come winter, consider Vegas and Cancun. Cheap flights and good infrastructure for out-of-towners.
We did Austin, TX, which was fun though a bit harder to get to/pricier.
