Will I catch on fire?

I’m learning low-fire pottery techniques like raku, and it would be nice to not catch on fire. I’m expecting to do about half a dozen rounds of raku and pit firing this month. The first firing is today and it’s literally going to be on-fire garbage.

This market resolves yes if I or my clothing are on fire.

@Alice How'd it go? No injuries, I hope?

@EvanDaniel I very nearly dropped a glowing hot vase trying to pull it from the kiln with long, heavy tongs. (Why did I make it spherical and impossible to grip?) But no, I’m all good!

@Alice Nice! Hot work can be fun! I've never done pottery or glass, but...

@EvanDaniel Give it a go!

@Alice Maybe one day! I've had some fun with metal casting...

@EvanDaniel Oooh, how did you get start with metal casting? I’ve always wanted to try!

I’ll take part in a pit firing tomorrow, where we’ll go to the beach, dig a hole, and set combustibles and pots on fire. We’ll barbecue and picnic too, since it’s an all-day firing!

predictedNO

@Alice technically you are a combustible but hopefully you do not combust !!!

@astyerche All right, we’re ready to get digging. If I’m digging my own grave at least I’m having a great time.

@Alice looks safe enough

About half my pieces are done firing in the raku kiln. Lots of things burst into flames. Thankfully I have not.
