According to my data (my Relationshps Survey, n=22,000, mostly people who follow me/not viral). What's the average relationship length for people who said they were fully monogamous, vs. the length of people who said they were fully polyamorous?
This is after I control linearly for age, as polyamorous people who answered my survey tended to be older (by about 3.5 years, on avg), and older people have longer relationships (on average, roughly 4-5 months per extra year of age)
This is IN MONTHS - so "10" would be predicting that full-poly relationships are 10 months longer, on average, than monogamous ones (after controlling for age).
"-10" would mean a prediction that full-poly relationships are 10 months shorter than monogamous ones.
(I'm not controlling for anything besides age)
edit: Sorry I forgot to mention this - this is asking about poly people's longest/most primary relationship. I asked people "If you're poly, answer for your longest/most primary relationship", and am measuring this.

@Odoacre I would count that as three relationships, two of which (A+B and B+C) are two years long, and one of which (A+C) is one year long. There are probably people and circumstances that would make it more like three one year relationships.
However, that's not a very central example of poly relationships (at least in my circles).
@Imuli Yes, that's another valid way of counting it, I guess it depends on the nature of the relationship, you seem to be thinking of three non exclusive relationships that happen to overlap in time, but if it was an exclusive relationship you could argue that it counts as a single relationship with different members at different times.
I am no expert in poly relationships but I find it hard to believe they pop into existence fully formed, or dissolve into nothing without breaking up into smaller bits first.
@Odoacre Sorry, my bad - this is only measuring people's primary/longest relationships! Forgot to mention this, edited it into the description.
@Aella tbh I feel like it would be better to ask for an average length of poly and mono relationships (or calculate it with info given) if your goal is to find which relationships tend to last longer. Because what could easily happen is that poly people tend to get into more relationships, but that eventually leads to a decently high primary/longest relationship. Even if their average length is significantly lower. Or maybe I'm dumb because I don't know anything about polling tbh.
