Resolution criteria
As of January 25, 2026, Avatar: Fire and Ash has grossed $378.5 million in the United States and Canada, and $1 billion in other territories, for a worldwide total of $1.379 billion. The market resolves based on the film's worldwide box office gross by the end of February 2026, verified through Box Office Mojo or The Numbers.
Background
Avatar: Fire and Ash was released in the United States on December 19, 2025. It grossed $1.379 billion worldwide, becoming the third-highest grossing film of 2025. Avatar movies have traditionally performed better internationally than domestically, with the original earning 72.7% of its box office overseas and The Way of Water earning 70.5% overseas. 71.8% of Fire and Ash's overall grosses have come from international markets.
Considerations
The film's trajectory differs from its predecessors. Fire and Ash took 28 days to hit the $350 million domestic milestone, while the original Avatar took 17 days and The Way of Water took just 14 days. There are fairly few obstacles in January, and there isn't another four-quadrant tentpole scheduled to debut until Pixar's Hoppers comes out on March 6.
@web3nafee i love the idea, but the market options make no sense right now. it's a resolves to 1 market, but it's already made "$440 million or more" and other options are still possible. maybe best to NA and re-do with options that are mutually exclusive?
