Beginning June 17, 2024, the NHC tracked a potential area of organized convection (archived) to develop in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico as Tropical Storm Alberto formed in the same area. If this specific disturbance strengthens and forms a named system (such as Tropical Storm Beryl), the market resolves YES. Resolves NO if the disturbance dissipates before that point.

  • NOAA/NHC will be considered the authority in terms of confirming tropical storms and assigning names.

  • A named system is a cyclone sustaining surface winds of at least 34 kn.

I’m resolving NO now because the system is moving over land, future development chance is ~0%.
