@strutheo What do you mean by “go into force”
If ByteDance still owns TikTok and they’re still in US app stores, is it in force?
(You never mention the law in the title, just that TikTok is banned)
@DavidFWatson if the president signs it, does that mean that bytedance is now forced to sell? or is there more to the process.
@strutheo There’s more to the process. As I said, there’s a 6 month grace period where nothing happens.
Plus it could be delayed by an injunction if ByteDance challenges in court
@DavidFWatson i see ok, since i am asking about the ban itself and not if bytedance is forced to sell, which i agree can take a while and get complicated, ill resolve this when the president signs it and it becomes a law
@strutheo Wait, but that doesn't make sense! It's you had said you're taking about the "bill" and the title said "bill" yes, but the "ban" is an effect of the "bill" which only takes place after some period of time.
A "ban" is the app being unavailable
A "bill" is a word for legislation that's in the process of being written
@DavidFWatson i interpreted ban to just be the law too, even if it was being debated. semantics haha
ill rewrite the title to be clearer - it will be when the law is signed
@strutheo Just make it say "before a TikTok ban is signed into law"
Or
"Before a TikTok ban bill is signed into law"
