@strutheo A sequel is the most likely but you never know, maybe they announce a prequel or something.
@strutheo The second part is not announced yet and they are not as closely related as LotR. Chances are very slim.

The novel trilogy is "Dune", "Dune Messiah", and "Children of Dune".
The two movies so far are about the first book, hence "Dune" and "Dune Part 2". The third movie should be "Dune Messiah" (maybe "part 1"). There should be no "Dune Part 3" although some will probably call it that.
@marktwse ah then maybe i am misunderstanding, do the books become prequels, or are they all in chronological order?
in any case i still just mean the 3rd mainline dune movie that will follow up the story of the one we just saw
@strutheo These three books are in chronological order and there is a 12 year skip between Dune and Dune Messiah. Would be fitting if they wait for Chalamet to look like a grown up.
Overall, there is a lot more Dune stuff. Similar to Star Wars it started in the middle.
