Easy things I can do to improve my/other people's lives in 2024?

Will give at least 25 mana for every (new!) suggested activity, thing, etc. that I either do at least once or decide to incorporate into my life/daily routine. Bonus points if it's something that everyone can easily do.

Keeping this vague on purpose! I wanna see what y'all come up with - or what you already do or what you are planning to do next year!

Switch your main search engine to Bing, sign in to Microsoft Rewards, switch on Giving with Bing, and select a high cost-effectiveness Effective Altruism recommended charity (e.g. Against Malaria Foundation, Humane League, Rethink Priorities etc.). Just by passively using your search engine you'll be raising ~$30/y, translating into surprisingly huge positive impact (e.g. $5 = ~1 mosquito net = ~2 people protected from tropical diseases for ~2.5y). It increases even more if you do daily sets, streak puzzle pieces etc.

When someone does a good job, let them know in front of a third party.

When the occasion pops up, do what you know is the right thing to help a situation, even if you have to get out of your car or be late somewhere or get yelled at to do it. Then don't tell anyone.

  • Setting goals you can make progress towards that involve other people

  • Getting 7-ish hours of sleep a day. Getting that much consistently is kinda hard (I don't do it consistently myself). If you happen to like Pokemon, I use a sleep tracker app called Pokemon Sleep which is fun.

In 2023, I completely changed my diet and I feel so much better than I did before. The diet I am on is similar to Keto with a few differences. I have lost 35 pounds and I have more energy than I have had in years. I had no idea that eating healthier would make such a significant difference in my life. Definitely something worth trying if you aren’t already doing it.

Create a fitness routine and a spreadsheet to keep track of it. Make sure you've got a row or box for every day. Stick to it for two months; do it right ans you'll build a lifelong habit

Stay hydrated/drink more water, your body needs it.

Also, cut down on processed sugar, you will feel much better.

Choose active mobility. Walking, riding a bike, even using public transit - these are all far kinder to your community than driving.

Random acts of kindness, make space in conversation for others (try to speak last, but not always have the last word), buy a coffee/tea for someone you think feels under appreciated
