The best source for context on this question is MacRumor's AirPods Max roundup

Minutia

  • There are already 3(!) markets about the year, so not duplicating that

  • Q3 == July-September, Q4 == October-December

  • I will extend this market until the next (post September 2024) AirPods Max are announced or...

  • If confirmation is given by Apple or Mark Gurman that AirPods Max will not be updated, feature predictions will NA and date/release predictions will resolve NO

    • The resolution now requires the AirPods Max to be updated to 5.3 or newer, which includes versions such as 5.4, 6.0, etc.

@probajoelistic If they're updated to Bluetooth 5.4 or 6.0, does this resolve Yes or No?

And similarly for H2 chip -- does that include "H2 or newer"?

@yetforever yeah that would make for a weird resolution. I’ll update it to β€œ5.3 or newer”

@probajoelistic I think this can resolve No as well now.

bought αΉ€104 NO

@probajoelistic I think this can resolve No already.

@traders I've closed the market for now. I meant for this market to address whatever next AirPods Max hardware was released to track the contradictory predictions that this year's update would / would not include significant updates. I could have made that more clear, but acceptance criteria are hard. It seems like traders in this market have universally interpreted "AirPods Max 2" to not refer to this week's update, but to a future more substantial update. That seems fair in retrospect, so I'm okay with keeping this market open with that interpretation. I will be changing some of the wording to be more clear. Specifically, I think I'll change the title to "What will be true of the next generation AirPods Max?" If you have any disagreements or comments, please let me know while the market is closed. Thanks!
