No one stays! It's absurd! 12/30 people stay in Masters, only 2/11 maintain or increase their rank in Diamond.
I heard this was possibly getting fixed, but at this point, it's just kind of terrible.
@100Anonymous I'm not disputing that. I think the Masters promotion/demotion is absolutely fair. On the other hand, I don't think it's fair that Diamond users don't have a shot at maintaining their League for the next month.
@Qoiuoiuoiu well, Diamond seems to be a sort of filter league where either you are good enough to get to masters or go back to platinum. So Masters --> Diamond --> Masters --> Diamond is also a problematic loop. Staying in masters is a much bigger challenge than getting there, which is a bigger challenge than getting to Diamond.
@100Anonymous Yeah... I just feel like there's a huge gap between skill level in Platinum and skill in Masters. I can usually win a Platinum league, but I almost never am able to promote in Diamond. I'd like a league matched to my skill level - right now, I'm bouncing between too easy and too hard, I guess.
@Qoiuoiuoiu I think there should be a tier-based system where leagues can have Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, or more depending on their size. A person in Tier 1 Platinum will still promote to Diamond, but will promote to Tier 1 Diamond (but if they've had exceptionally good profits compared to previous seasons, maybe Tier 2 or Tier 3 Diamond).
@100Anonymous Work on being good enough to get to Masters, climb the skill cliff, I'm diamond for the first time next season.
@AlanTennant early ranks can be deceiving. Also, are you trying to say that I should get to masters? (Not that I have a problem, but I couldn't understand what you said)
Each league up has by design an increasingly high bar for promoting, and for not demoting, and a tighter and tighter window for neither promoting or demoting.
Until diamond where everyone who earns more than a specific high amount of mana promotes and the rest demote, one or 2 from each pool. After diamond it's masters which only has one pool, and so only 1 or 2 from each diamond pool promote to it.
@AlanTennant I'm not disputing that, it's just that you'd think there'd be at least 2 or 3 spots that stay.
For Silver to Gold, about the top 50 are not demoted. For Platinum, the top 15 are not demoted. For Diamond, the top 2 are not demoted.
It's very harsh scaling, and also means that anyone good enough to make it to Diamond but not exceptional enough to make it to Masters will just bounce between Platinum and Diamond, even if they're much better than the average Platinum user.
