Can I choose not to get involved?

Blue is the 'be nice to others' choice but you might die

Red guarantees you live but can you live with yourself for choosing the nasty option and being responsible for killing all the nice people who chose blue?

Neither is a good option, so don't take part if that is allowed.

If that is not allowed, is it allowed to poll other participants and/or build consensus for everyone to choose the same option (probably blue) ?

@ChristopherRandles The thing is, I am not responsible for the laws of nature. I am responsible for myself and those I choose to care about. I say NO to the collectivists' desire to impose their way of life on everyone.

@lukres so if you see a sign saying "Danger 400,000 volts DO NOT TOUCH" you would immediately grab hold of it? That doesn't seem very believable.

But anyway I got it wrong. Building a consensus for blue is a bad idea. Because everyone might agree then lots take red just to be sure. So instead we should build consensus for red so there is no incentive to defect from the consensus.

NO ONE BEATS THE PIG

Voted lib by mistake fml

@lukres I will gladly die as long as blue goes down with me

I would really love to compare the outcomes were this question posed with the colors reversed.

The magic pill mechanism obscures the fact that the only thing killing blue-pillers is the collective action of red-pillers.

People see this as a vote on whether or not to kill blue team, and vote the way they would on killing any other arbitrary segment of the population .

@Muskwalker no, the only thing killing blue pillers is participation

I don't understand, why do people pick blue? If everyone picks red, everyone lives!

If we expect that enough people are going to pick blue, there's an incentive to try to save them. Everyone on blue is also a Nash equilibrium, everyone still lives.

Then if I think about surviving in a world where a (double digit I expect) percentage of the people most likely to side with blue are dead, I'm not sure I'd like the fallout.

If I know that the results are (hypothetically) 45% blue, picking red would practically be an s-risk for me. I'll pass on that hypothetical scenario. Arrivederci, a dios!

@42irrationalist the better place for it!

@BarrDetwix I would expect in a real-world scenario, without prior planning/discussion, majority (including me) would pick red. In this case, I lived, while the blues died. RIP blues.

(oops, misread the comment!)

@Gen Blue risks your own life but gives you a small chance of breaking a tie and saving half the population.
