Warning to all whales: the whales are nerfed quite a lot in this minnowbait. Read on for the full rules!
Brief description:
Every day, the option with the lowest amount of points (square root of YES shares, calculated per each user), is eliminated and resolves NO. The last two options remaining resolve YES and win!
Details:
When this market is created, I will choose a random time 9 PM and 11:30 PM EST for each day between 8/20 and 8/28 (inclusive). At the random time chosen for each day, I will resolve the currently unresolved option with the lowest total of points to NO. If there is a tie for least YES points, I will randomly choose an option from among the tied options to eliminate. NO shares are irrelevant for the purpose of calculating elimination.
Important:
Be sure you are calculating using shares (or Max Payout), not mana spent or bet amount!
Example:
Let's pretend we have two animals, Whale and Minnow
Ammon holds 10000 Whale YES shares
There are 6 other users each holding 400 YES shares on Minnow
Ammon has a score of
for a total of 100 points
The 6 players betting yes on minnow have a total score of
for a total of 120 points.
As you can see, the minnows have an advantage, collectively holding 2400 YES, but having 120 points, while the whale has 10000 YES shares, and 100 points. Therefore Whale is eliminated.
After the final elimination, the remaining two options will resolve YES.
I will not bet in this market. Alt accounts will be excluded from calculation.
Thanks to Quinn for the fun.
Seems like a smart idea, but I suspect the main drawback is that the vast majority of potential minnow bettors, including myself, lack the motivation to manually calculate the points of each option every time they visit the market, and instead will be betting primarily just to arb and equalise the odds
Also, do I understand correctly that NO shares don't affect the outcome at all?
