Any form of a national word, in any part of speech, counts.

For example: “Chinese,” “China,” and “China’s” would all count for “China”

If it is a tie, I will resolve it to each country tied for the most.

Stuttering does NOT count as saying a word again. However, if Biden deliberately repeats a word for emphasis, and it is a national word, that does count.

Also, this will be based on his actual speech (obviously), not the preplanned remarks released on whitehouse.gov. I will use the nytimes transcriptions (previous years linked below) unless there is verbal ambiguity in which I will listen myself.

Pretty sure it was Israel but I'll count again when live transcript from nytimes comes out

If I've counted right, in 2023 it was a tie between Ukraine and China, and in 2022 it was a tie between Ukraine and Russia.

@lisamarsh Yup I got:

5 Ukraine / 5 China in 2023

18 Ukraine / 18 Russia in 2022

Great market

@Domer thank you!

Do mentions of Palestine count towards Israel?

@ma Thanks! What about ambiguous umbrella terms like “Holy Land”?

@mariopasquato Gotchu and also nah. “Israel” and “Israeli” are the only ones I can think of that’d work.

what happens in case of a tie?

@diadematus Good question -- and what about stuttering?

@diadematus @Domer thx for the Qs. If it is a tie, I will resolve it to all countries tied for the most. If this happens, I'll switch the market to the "choose multiple" resolution method. Stuttering will not count as mentioning the word again. However, if he repeats words in the script for emphasis, intentionally, those words do count. How does all that sound?
