As generative AI reshapes the landscape of contemporary art production, institutional validation remains contested. This market tracks the integration of AI-generated works into canonical exhibition spaces.
Qualifying Criteria:
Major Museums include:
- MoMA, Guggenheim, Whitney, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou
- Stedelijk, Kunsthaus Zürich, SFMOMA, LACMA, Art Institute of Chicago
- National museums with contemporary art programs (V&A, Smithsonian)
Generative AI Artworks must:
- Be explicitly created using generative AI models (Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, custom GANs, etc.)
- Be featured as part of the exhibition (not merely documentation)
- Credit AI generation as primary medium or co-creator
Excluded:
- Artist tools using AI for editing/enhancement only
- Historical algorithmic art (pre-2020)
- Performance/installation where AI is purely auxiliary
Resolution Method:
Count verified through exhibition catalogues, press releases, and institutional documentation published by December 31, 2025. Each unique artwork counts once, regardless of how many exhibitions it appears in.
Market resolves to the total count, bounded between 0 and 100.
