Fresh market, focused on MIT and plagiarism:

Rep. Elise Stefanik, today: "Sally Kornbluth should be fired immediately."

Bill Ackman, just a few moments ago:

"We will begin with a review of the work of all current @MIT faculty members, President Kornbluth, other officers of the Corporation, and its board members for plagiarism. We will be using MIT's own plagiarism standards which can be found here: https://integrity.mit.edu/handbook/what-plagiarism… We will share our findings in the public domain as they are completed in the spirit of transparency."

The Corporation — the University’s highest governing body — is expected to announce the resignation to Harvard affiliates in an email later today. Gay is also expected to make a statement about the decision.

Claudine Gay (Harvard)

See Bill Ackman’s scathing Dec 10, 2023 letter to Harvard’s Board of Directors.

https://x.com/BillAckman/status/1733985787455168906?s=20

“In her short tenure as President, Claudine Gay has done more damage to the reputation of Harvard University than any individual in our nearly 500-year history”

“President Gay’s failures have led to billions of dollars of cancelled, paused, and withdrawn donations to the university. I am personally aware of more than a billion dollars of terminated donations from a small group of Harvard’s most generous Jewish and non-Jewish alumni.”

The fawning December 10 article in the NYT "As Harvard President Faces Pressure to Resign, Some Faculty Show Support" shows that Gay & Harvard's PR teams are working overtime to tilt the narritive in Gay's favor, with considerable success.

Magill remains interim president until a new person is appointed.

@MaybeNotDepends > “By date of announcement of removal (even if removal goes into effect after Feb 5th).”

Seems pretty unambiguous? The date of the announcement was today—she resigned. The market creator can chime in, but the description mentions date of announcement of resignation, and nothing about when the next president assumes the job.

@Ziddletwix Yep, resolves

Why is this tagged US politics and Israel-Hamas conflict?

@UnconditionalProbability They went in front of congress to talk about pro-palestine protests on their various campuses. Hence, US politics and Israel-Hamas.
