In 2020, the election calling happened as follows:

Nearly four days after the final votes were cast, the cable news networks and broadcast news divisions called Joe Biden the winner over President Trump in rapid fire fashion within a 16-minute window that began at 11:24 a.m. Eastern.

CNN was the first with the call, followed by NBC and MSNBC 55 seconds later. CBS came in at 45 seconds after 11:25, followed by ABC at 30 seconds after 11:26. All four organizations use the same vote count and exit polling data to make their determinations on the outcome of the race.

The Associated Press and Fox News, which collaborate in their voter survey data, came in slightly later, with AP calling it at 11:28 and Fox News at 11:40. The slight delay at Fox News had to do with its decision desk — the analysts who determine when a state can be called — which was looking at different data than the other networks.

In 2024, will Fox News call the Presidential Election within an hour of the first, non-Fox network calling it?

So, if Fox is first, will another network call the election in the hour succeeding their call? If Fox isn’t first, will Fox call the election within an hour of the first network?

DDHQ was not major as you said below

@JaredAsh NBC was at 5:33am. CNN was (updated) at 5:54am.

@mattyb i do think Fox was way out in front without anyone within the hour. Resolves NO

@mattyb what was the exact time Fox called it?

what is "another network"

@nikki good question. the list of “who called 2020” i’ve seen has been: CNN, NBC News, MSNBC, CBS News, ABC News, the Associated Press, and Fox News. I will, of course, count all of them. And I’d further include a tier of top newspapers: NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Philadelphia Inquirer; and extremely highly rated international organizations: Al Jazeera, BBC.

If fucklibs.com or some other obscure site calls it, that doesn’t count here. I won’t be able to proactively enumerate a full list of sources here.

sold Ṁ50 YES

@mattyb If you include the newspapers, there is a good chance some use a different provider like Decision Desk HQ who called one day ahead of everyone else in 2020

@mattyb is DDHQ another network? they tend to call things earlier

@nikki no, i think they’re one tick too small / independent for this market, but i made another market for them specifically /mattyb/will-decision-desk-dd-hq-be-the-fir

@mattyb Your comment said you include the top newspapers, not all of whom make their own calls. It's best to keep this market to the main TV networks
