YES

This will be determined by the “Change” listed at StockAnaylsis (links as follows) for each company: GOOG and AAPL, for the periods of Dec 31, 2022 - Dec 31, 2023.

If Apple shrinks by 15,000 employees and Google shrinks by 10,000 employees, this resolves as NO.

We finally have the EoY ‘23 numbers!!

Google: -7.7k

Apple: -3k

@traders ive reopened this. i didn’t expect getting these data to take this long, and there’s no reason to not allow trading on this information.

As a reminder, this is only for 2023 data (waiting for the Dec 31st tallys), so any ‘24 news won’t affect these

@mattyb @deagol has pointed out that Apple releases the data only annually, so we’ll be comparing Alphbet’s Dec ‘23 data to Apple’s Sept ‘23 data.

To do otherwise would require us waiting until Sept ‘24 for the Apple data, which would have a bunch of ‘24 stuff in it. If this is wrong and Apple does report anything with Q4 data, please suggest that data source! Definitely amenable here to resolving this as fairly as possible.

I’m going to keep this one closed and unresolved until the Dec 31st data comes in (hopefully shortly). Please lmk if you think this should be open until then!

I believe the Apple headcount is only reported on the Fiscal Year (September) reports (10-K filings) which seems to be the source of the referenced links. I doubt we’ll get a number for the end of the calendar year.
