Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024) opens March 8th and Dune: Part Two (2024) opens March 1st. Which movie will make more money in its opening weekend?
This will Resolve when the actuals come in for Kung Fu Panda (likely on Monday/Tuesday).
Also bet on
@Will94fc Opening Weekend here is just “domestic”, which includes the US, Canada and a few other teeny markets. Not China though
Kung Fu Panda
Domestic Total Prediction: $170 million
International Total Prediction: $430 million
Global Total Prediction: $600 million
Dune: Part Two
Domestic Total Prediction: $300 million
International Total Prediction: $420 million
Global Total Prediction: $720 million
@mattyb wait are those predictions just some guy that wants to maximize clicks or does he have a track record LOL
@TheBayesian when you’re making box office predictions >2 months out, there’s gonna be some big margins for error. TheDirect is a semi-reputable movie site (imo) but yea these are just guesses.
@TheBayesian I think it has a broader appeal with kids and such. And will be a hit with the 20-30 year olds for the nostalgia factor imo.
@GabeGarboden that's reasonable. matty with the well crafted questions, cuz i looked it up and kung fu panda 3 made 41M in its opening weekend, and Dune 1 made... 41M as well
@TheBayesian I wouldn't be surprised if Kung Fu Panda had a big audience in China. Like, I'd have watched the shit out of Encanto even if it wasn't for Bruno.
