@wmalinowski According to the apple website the new iMac is available in pink. It's kind of a dirty pink but officially pink.
@Lion thanks, I actually visited their store to check just after voting and sold my shares.
@jacksonpolack they did announce the device; it doesn’t matter IMO that they didn’t mention the colors
@jacksonpolack this in my opinion is clearly a misreading of the question / option, I'd be shocked if this item resolves to NO. They absolutely announced a new device that (according to their website) has a pink color option. The answer did not say "a pink color option for a new device", just the device itself.
@Lion Yes, but the title of the market is what will they announce. The user-submitted response is ambiguous about whether the announcement is about a device (that happens to have a pink color option) or a new pink color option for a device.
@oh In my eyes it's pretty clear yes, because it's any (new) device in pink, not a new color.
(This discussion also effects the orange question).
@Eliza We parsed the answer options as meaning that the device and its new color option would have to be announced to qualify.
@Eliza Not necessarily. Whereas black was announced out loud and the camera lingered on it, the other colors were flashed on the screen for a second. To me, the option was stating that the color itself would be announced. The word “announce” means making something known, so it would be fair to assume that it’s only an announcement if it’s brought to the viewers’ attention.
@Eliza The description states “What will they reveal at the event?” The iMacs were already offered in pink and orange for years, so that’s not a revelation. That’s why it wasn’t announced.
@oh to me, the obvious wording to mean that would be “any pink device”. Because they said “any device with pink as a color option”, I don’t see why they would even have to announce any pinkness about a new device, they could just announce a new device that happens to have a pink option that one can find out about at the Apple store.
@HedShock I hear you. They would announce the pinkness of a device if the device didn’t already have a pink as an option. That’s why they announced the blackness of the Macbook Pro, which wasn’t already available in black. I humbly request to have this response resolve N/A because of the ambiguity. Again, the spirit of this market is about what is “announced” and “revealed,” so it’s reasonable to interpret the options as referring to something new.
@oh Trying to summarize the argument:
Did they reveal any device with pink as a color option? Is a clear YES.
Did they announce any device with pink as a color option? Is contested.
Did they announce they pinkness of any device? Visually but it wasn't pointed out explicitly or verbally.
Is the option "any device with pink as a color option” about announcing the pinkness? Ambiguous. If the had revealed a car but not announce its pinkness, we could still resolve this YES.
I judge YES.
If it were just about reveal vs announce, I would do N/A. However, while "reveal" would be a clear YES, "announce" is not a clear NO. There is still ambiguity about "visual announcement" and if the pinkness must even be announced. So the argument in favor of NO is too weak to warrant a NA.
