Resolution criteria

I entered the lottery for the Steam Frame 256GB when it first came out but ended up on the waitlist. I live in the US.

This market resolves to the date (UTC) on which I, the market creator, receive an official email from Valve/Steam inviting me to complete my purchase of the Steam Frame.

  • Verification: Resolution will be based on a screenshot of the official invitation email showing the sender and timestamp.

  • Public Release: If Valve eliminates the waitlist/reservation queue and opens Steam Frame sales directly to the general public before I receive an invite, this market will resolve to the date public sales officially go live.

  • Missed Windows: If I receive the invitation email but fail to complete the purchase (e.g., by missing the checkout window), the market will still resolve to the date the invitation email was sent.

  • Voluntary Cancellation: I do not plan to leave the waitlist. However, if I have to cancel my waitlist reservation or delete my Steam account before an email is received, this market will resolve N/A.

Background

On September 14, 2026, Valve announced the Steam Frame, a standalone VR headset starting at $1,059 for the 256GB model and $1,299 for the 1TB model. Instead of a traditional preorder system, Valve opened a randomized reservation queue that closed on September 17, with the first wave of purchase invitations going out on September 18.

Users who signed up but were not selected in the initial drawing were placed on a waitlist. As initial reservation holders decline to buy, cancel, or let their 72-hour checkout windows expire, Valve is expected to gradually pull waiting users into active reservation slots.
