Will trading fees be removed by end of August?

Resolves YES if by August 31, Manifold does not charge fees on trades on yes/no markets. NO otherwise.

This will resolve YES if/when the change is made, even if it is later reverted, as long as the change is intentional.

Currently, all fees are paid to the question author. But authors also get a bonus for each bettor (recently added). So the fees to incentivize creating markets seem much less important now. And of course fees disincentivize trading, so removing them and potentially adjusting the author rewards to compensate might be better.

Manifold has gone feeless! There are no more transaction fees on any of our markets!

Now we have liquidity bots we effectively have a high fee liquidity service but only for the techno elite. Better to allow anyone to provide AMM liquidity for a fee.
~5% on AMM, ~1-2% taker, 0% maker is very standard Also would be interesting to see Manifold add a “donate 1% on every trade” feature so people trade more (optional of course, but incents noise traders to feel better about using the site, as the line-go-up motive works for maybe ~20 of us long term)
Related: I doubt the median new user wants to see the profit or the chart of equity (notice that no trading platforms show this, even IAB is daily profit only and coinbase/binance wouldn’t know where to even look for these)
Would much prefer to charge fees on “taker only” and allow anyone to add liquidity to a pool (and share in trading fees paid when trading against pool liquidity) Limit orders that go onto the book are fee-free, and only the “taker” of liquidity pays a fee, while also allowing anyone to increase the pool with an actual profit incentive

@Gigacasting Yes, I agree that fees should be taker only if they exist. But I also think getting rid of fees entirely might be even better.
Pedantry: DPM markets still have platform fees, not all is paid to the creator https://github.com/manifoldmarkets/manifold/blob/main/common/fees.ts

@wasabipesto Oh interesting, didn't know that, thanks.

Since it appears that free-response markets are a bit of a legacy thing, I would like to change this market to be about fees on yes/no markets specifically. I hope that doesn't substantially affect your trade, if it does I'll refund you.
