I'm hosting the Big Manifest Awards Ceremony (BigMAC) this year. It's an Oscars-style event where there are multiple nominees and only one winner in a number of categories. Give me more ideas for categories!
People are also trading
It's an Oscars-style event where there are multiple nominees and only one winner in a number of categories.
Will there be selected nominees (i.e. people get to say "I was nominated for X") or is the nomination process just "you're added to one of these markets by someone" (so the nomination doesn't really mean anything).
@Ziddletwix There are markets with a bunch of different possible options on them, maybe that tracks the nominations
@spiderduckpig that's what i'm asking. i'm hoping "nominated for X" is its own little mini reward, like in the Oscars (with nothing to show for it, but the top ones are selected through the same process as a winner), but wasn't sure if ian is actually doing that or not
@Ziddletwix anyone can add answers so the nomination list might get pretty long, but maybe we’ll post a shortlist of the finalists based on the votes
@ian yeah IMO it would be cool to treat it like the Oscars, where the top ~3 (or X) per category are called the "nominees" (so even if you don't win, you can be happy to be nominated). But that depends a bit on how selection works! if it's a system with voting, could just do it normally and call the top X the nominees. if it's selected by hand, then also selecting nominees could be a bit more work.
@Ziddletwix my plan is to select the winners via votes from a small committee, so top X as nominees makes sense to me
I would nominate the chess market of @Robincvgr and the hangman market for market series
