I've had a typical long covid experience since September 2020, with a very clear suspected path for infection (someone coughing without a mask while we were both inside for an hour or so, I had an ill-fitted mask): Mild infection at first, suspected it was nothing, and then one month later it flared up as I was training for a marathon running every days.
Though I do not suffer from chronic fatigue, I'm having way more difficulties concentrating and focusing, writing novels and game mastering, lost some metacognition for now, have developed sleep apnea, forgetfulness, can't run as well as I used to, have shortness of breath, along with non-intrusive neurological impairments and occasional tingling in feet and hands.
There's been several accounts now that paxlovid can alleviate long-covid symptoms, and I am trying to get some.
What I've tried so far:
- Seen a neurologist who prescribed RMI + blood test. Blood test was inconclusive with respect to autoimmune diseases (antinuclear antibody was in the ambiguity window), mri didn't find anything. Didn't mention long-covid to her as I wasn't so sure about that hypothesis back then. She chalked it up to my being bipolar and said I did not need to see her after the tests if they do not find anything.
- Seen a doctor for a current covid infection. Wasn't prescribed paxlovid, but a bunch of painkiller medications instead.
- Tried some other routes, which also did not lead anywhere for now.
This question is conditional on my continuing to search for it. If my symptoms resolve themselves differently or I give up on taking paxlovid for some reasons, then I will resolve this market as ambiguous.
