I want to make a piece of furniture out of concrete as a creative endeavor, and I think I have a good shot at it. Current best project idea is a coffee table with decorative crayon inlays.
I'm limited by tools and my school has to approve the project. I'd use Fishstone concrete products, a concrete mix used in high end concrete countertops. This concrete costs $25 per 50 lb bag plus the cost of the glass fibers, pigment, wood for the form, mixing supplies, etc. Maybe about $100 total for my first project.
